Timing belt change on a 1990 geo prism?

I'm changing the timing belt on my 1990 geo prism. What is the easiest way to get the timing correct after I install the new belt? Thank you very much.

When I was first learning to do timing belts I was taught to set the crank at top dead center on #1 compression stroke. After the timing covers are removed, take a paint type marker and put a dot on each gear with a corresponding dot on the belt, and mark the top side of it along with an arrow in the direction of rotation. When the old belt is removed, align it with the new belt and make a dot on the new belt in each spot that the old one has. When you install the new belt, if all of your self made marks line up then you have no worries, finish the job and drive on :)

No. 1 piston at TDC and align the cam gear to the pointer.
