60,000 is the recommended change for a timing belt and yes do the water pump too. It's runs off the timing belt so the labor is only slightly more just to change the pump otherwise you'll spend the whole water pump labor price again in a year or two. This way it's one repair and you're good to go again!

i own a repair shop,in Tennessee,and it needs to be changed at every 60 thousand miles at the least that's what the book calls for and that's a good point to have it changed at,but i wouldn't go too far over that change all y customers vehicles at or around that point,good luck i hope this help,s.

Doing anything additional will only make repair shops money...



they prey on 'regular maintence' to increase revenue...

as per the answer above about waiting till it breaks,don't the escort engine is a zero valve clearance engine and whne the belt breaks pistons and valve collide,big expense,60,000 miles or 100,000 km,change it
