Don't worry to much its straight forward,, there is a modification on one model 300 tdi,, I think it was on the M-N reg,, the belt wears thinner and thinner something to do with one of the pulley wheels rubbing the edge of the timing belt,, check the edge of the belt for wear (making the belt narrower like its been split with a knife) ,,, I saw one only about 1%26quot; wide it had worn away, caught it just in time,, the conversion consisted of two or three pulleys if i remember rightly,, check with land rover,, it has probably already been done ? Left hand thread on tensioner !

hope this helps good luck !,, ps if you have any probs just add to this ,, I will keep an eye on this one, get on with it see how you go !

At many auto parts stores you can buy a Haynes do-it-yourself manual for your model car, with step-by-step instructions, and basic explanations at the beginning of each chapter. If it is not in stock, you can order it online by searching on %26quot;auto repair manuals%26quot; on Yahoo search. In the front is a section on %26quot;Troubleshooting%26quot; that guides you step-by-step to find causes of most engine malfunctions based on the car's symptoms. Whether you do the work yourself or not, it helps you make informed decisions and not be taken advantage of, and to not feel so %26quot;in the dark.%26quot;

db667089 says: you can check http://www.alldatadiy.com. For about the same price as a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual, you can have online access (for a whole year) to model specific info for your particular vehicle. This is the same info that repair shops use. They have great wiring schematics/diagrams.

Also, for about $15 for a one-month subscription, you can get the complete factory repair manual, downloadable (careful! Mine was about 500 pages!) or viewable, at http://eAutoRepair.com.
Before you take off the old belt make sure you scower lines in the cogs that coinside the markings on the engine block so you dont lose your timeing because when you take the timeing belt off you must not move the cam or crank shaft cogs without knowing where thewy were originally or you will lose your timing.
