Changing the timing belt on my 2002 honda civic lx?

what other parts do i need? i was watching a documentary and it said it was a good idea when changing the timing belt to also change some other parts(just to get it done while the engine is lifted out of the car anyway)...like the water pump and some other cords...or, i dont know...

can you tell me what other things i need to change so i that i don't have to get this done again for a while

i know the mechanic will be able to tell me but i just want to make sure he's not forgetting anything or trying to get away with out doing it...

The water pump, the timing belt tensioner pulley and the timing belt idler.

The parts aren't that expensive and it saves you another trip into the engine between belt changes.

When you do the water pump make sure you get ALL the old gasket off. Some are a bear to get at. You don't want to discover you have a leak after you get it all back together.

You also should change the timing belt idler pulley. Also water pump if it has 50,000 miles on it. Also, all fan belts that have been driven 50,000 miles. Also, check for coolant leaks and oil leaks in the engine department, and underneath the car after it has sat overnight.
If this is how much you trust your mechanic, I would bring a change of underwear!
All good answers !!!! Been a shadetree mechanic and if you dont trust the mechanic ask for the parts when you pick up the car or mark them permantly before the repair and check in his parking lot that they are replaced. Also never put on the work ticket the parts that are bad, only state the problem your having. Otherwise the mechanic can refer to the ticket and said I replaced the parts you wanted !!! and you still have the problem you started with. Find a good and honest mechanic and stick with him for the life of the vehicle
